Claire de Jonge-Vors - Solihull Acupuncturist

Preparing for Acupuncture Treatment

Before acupuncture treatment, it is advisable to eat a light meal 1-2 hours beforehand and refrain from alcohol on the same day.

Your practitioner will need to know about any medicines you are taking and the doses. Please bring a list with you.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Try to arrive relaxed for your appointment and take things easy for a couple hours afterwards, to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.

What happens when you go for treatment?

Following a complete medical history and physical examination as needed a plan of treatment will be discussed, including risks and benefits and your consent will be asked for before starting the treatment.

Single use sterile acupuncture needles will be inserted into selected points. They will have an effect on your whole body, as well as your symptoms. You will be left to rest for a while, before their safe removal.

What does it feel like?

Acupuncture needles are so fine that most people do not feel them being inserted. It is normal to feel a mild tingle or dull ache as the acupuncturist adjust the needle. Many people feel deeply relaxed during the treatment.
